NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC is my example since a long time. In 1999, Carsten Peter organized an expedition to Vanuatu, which was published in NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC in the November 2000 issue.Carsten gave me the opportunity to join the team and to learn many, many things from him and the other team members. Unforgettable moments- and a wonderful surprise in the November 2000 issue: I am on one of the pictures published!
After returning from the dive expedition on Mike Ball's vessel "Spoilsport" ( www.mikeball.com ), I moved to Magnetic Island for my PADI Dive Instructor course. Course director Peter Payne from Melbourne conducted the course, followed by a 2 day First Aid instructor course. Incredible, how much you can learn in such a short time and how much fun you can have!!! Thanks to everybody for the good times, especially to shop owner Steward for the "coach in the crazy house" and to Peter for everything.
After coming back to Townsville from the expedition in the Kimberleys, there was not much time for a rest. The next expedition already waited. Mike Ball, one of the biggest dive operator in the Southern Hemisphere, gave me a great opportunity: He offered me a trip as expedition crew on one of his motor vessels.
I leave Townsville/ Queensland in the end of July to join an Expedition team in the Kimberley /WA.
Australia's last frontier with rugged sandstone ranges, dry flood planes and scrubs offers wild adventures, but very little civilisation.
